Wisdom tooth surgery

For an impacted or partly erupted wisdom tooth causing pain or infection. A check-up and X-ray come first.

Visits
A check-up and X-ray, then the surgery; stitches out about a week later
Each visit
60 min

This is planned after a check-up; to start, book a check-up and consultation.

What happens

  1. An X-ray shows where the tooth sits and how close it is to the nerve.

  2. Under local anaesthetic the gum is opened and the tooth removed, sometimes in pieces; the area is stitched at the end.

Afterwards

  1. On the first day hold an ice pack on your cheek, ten minutes on and ten off.

  2. Swelling peaks on the second or third day, then goes down; that’s normal.

  3. From the second day, rinse gently with warm salt water after meals.

  4. Take medicines exactly as prescribed. Pain that gets worse after day three: call us.
